The Infrastructure Team are responsible for the Gateshead domain which allows over 4600 users to log on via a desktop device, a laptop, an iPad or remotely via Citrix and gain secure access to their required applications, files and folders. This is achieved using Microsoft Active Directory alongside Microsoft Entra ID which allows Gateshead IT to control and monitor who can access the Gateshead domain, control what the user can see when they access, allow IT via security policies to secure the end user device to comply with the latest security recommendations.
We manage and safeguard over 400 servers with our corporate backup solution, look after various systems such as VMware, Citrix, Azure and assist with other IT teams to manage our Microsoft 365 solution which includes Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive
We are looking to appoint a Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Officer within the IT Service Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for the ongoing support of the Council’s on premise and Azure computing infrastructure ensuring that high availability and continuity of service is maintained, assisting with IT projects as and when necessary and resolving reported issues.
You must have 2 years current and proven experience in Infrastructure support. You should have a good working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Server operating systems, Storage Area Networks, Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365, VMware, Citrix, SharePoint Online and on premise and cloud backup solutions
You will need excellent written and verbal communication, and a proven ability to communicate effectively to elected members, senior managers, and staff and at all levels, using a range of mediums
