A Data Scientist with use a variety of technical applications and methods to analyse high volume data sets. Using a combination of data analytics platforms, algorithms, and machine learning a data scientist will analyse one or more large data sets to produce both insights and answers to the questions posed by businesses and organisations. Once they have discovered a pattern or conclusion, they’ll produce a report or visualisation to demonstrate their findings.
Working as part of a larger programme team a Data Scientist will work to answer, often complex, questions using qualitative data.
Data Scientists need to be highly analytical with a strong attention to detail. They’re required to have a high level of critical thinking skills alongside the ability to think strategically and problem solve. They often need to present their findings as a presentation so strong written communication skills are essential.
